Those who are Meek

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek. For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, For they shall be filled with mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called Sons of God

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake, Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew 5:3-12

Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.- (vs5)

To the world, this quality seems like a weakness, but God again flips the script and changes it to a good thing. To be meek means to be quiet and gentle, not imposing your will or opinion on those around you, to be submissive. By the world's standards, it basically entails that anyone who shows this quality is considered a Pushover, someone swayed by every opinion or fact that comes their way. But this is exactly who God is calling to Himself. In the Biblical sense of the word, the individual is willing to accept and submit without resistance to the will and desire to someone else. In this case, the Christian who has this trait can more easily follow the path and guidance of the Father because his own truth does not get in the way. In my own life, I tend to fall into this category. Being the middle child of 6 kids, I have spent my life as an unofficial peacekeeper. I tend to stay on the quiet side and can go with the flow of what the rest of the family chooses to do. I find it hard sometimes to have my own opinion when asked how we want to do something, and it some cases, we end up with a lot of back and forth "what do you want to do, I don't know, what do you want to do?" Not having a plan or a desired choice can be uneventful at times, when we decide to be meek in terms of the spiritual journey God wants to lead us on, it makes it a little easier to blindly trust his plan. My way of doing things doesn't get in the way and God is able to direct into the path where He gets all the glory, not my plan or actions. Notice here the word chosen was not "weak". This too is also intentional. God does not call us to a life of failure and defeat, but he has already won the victory, and when we are gentle and quiet in spirit, we will be the ones who inherit the earth. It won't work if we try to take the reins on our life, but only when we allow God to lead us and guide us into the direction He desires for us to go.
