Those who are Peacemakers

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek. For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, For they shall be filled with mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called Sons of God

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake, Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew 5:3-12

Blessed are the Peacemakers, For they shall be called Sons of God- vs 9

This world we live in today always seems to be at war with those around us. With the increase of Social Media, we all seem to be walking on egg shells to avoid hurting each others feelings. When this happens, a lot of miscommunication occurs, especially between people who should be on the same side. To be a peacemaker in these days can therefore be a challenge, but it is something we should all strive to be. When we take on the role of a peacemaker, there are a couple things we need. A heart open to hearing both sides of the disagreement. Empathy to understand that both sides have been hurt and want they voices heard. An opinion that remains neutral, no matter what is said. The courage to facilitate peace between both parties. Holding onto these traits can be difficult, but we don't have to carry this alone. When we operate through the Holy Spirit, He can take the positive, truthful aspects of both arguments and show you how to speak truth, while also dissolving the matter.

As the middle child of a big family, I have also felt the responsibility of keeping the peace. As important as that is, being a maker of peace is a step above that I sometimes struggle with. To keep the peace means that both parties have had a chance to vent nd are able to be in the room with each other without hatred and anger filling the space. But a peacemaker works a little different. To bring about real peace, both parties are able to come to a mutual agreement that begins a process of full restoration. It doesn't mean that all is forgiving/forgotten and they can move on. What it does mean is that after the hurt has been addressed, God now has the permission to come into each heart and begin molding and softening the things that once caused the initial offence.

Don't just keep peace, but strive to make peace, and you will become a Son of God.
