Those who are Pure

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek. For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, For they shall be filled with mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called Sons of God

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake, Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew 5:3-12

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God- vs 8

The word pure relates to a person or thing that is of one substance, A t-shirt that is 100% cotton would be considered pure cotton. A writing desk made from only one type of wood, would be a pure substance. What Jesus is talking about in this Beatitude are those people who not only live a life of integrity when people are watching, but also when they are alone and isolated. The people who don't have to put on a mask to appear holy and upright, they just live a genuine life that isn't changed by the environment. Unfortunately, especially as Christians, it is easy to hide our fears and doubts behind a face that says, "how could anything be wrong, I have God in my corner." And without Jesus, sometimes we feel like we have to always have this façade up at all times so that someone will never think we are struggling. The truth is, a life following Jesus is going to have some hardships and doubts, but when we are of a pure heart, the weights of life don't seem to be as much of a burden because we trust in the one who says that his yolk is easy, and his burden is light.-Matthew 11:28-30

In Christ, we are offered the gift of new life. And thanks be to God, that covers all of our life; the past, present and future. We don't have to be clean to come to the Father, but as we grow closer to him, he removes the things in our life that are impure and replaces them with attitudes and character traits that are pleasing to Him. Through Christ, whose blood has washed us clean of all filth, we are now able to come into the throne room of God and stand as clean, pure, and holy creatures. When our hearts are no longer mixed with the worries of life, God is then able to come into every and any situation we are in and show us the path back to his open arms.
